Annabel's Angels - Friendships Through Cancer

Our friend Annabel was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in April 2012, not long before her 40th Birthday. Her cancer diagnosis came as a horrific shock, yet she made friends with other women via the Macmillan Online Forum so to never burden her family and close friends with worries about her illness.

Annabel was always considerate, even though she was diagnosed with a secondary cancer she wanted to protect and support her loved ones and remained positive, supportive and she reached out to others in similar positions to help them through bad days. As her condition took a turn for the worse and she was admitted to hospital over Christmas, Annabel was still reaching out and helping others via her smart phone from her hospital bed. She died on 28 December 2012.

Annabel’s generous, thoughtful and kind nature touched so many that read her posts and messages online that after her death her family was inundated with messages from women that had been online friends or even occasionally read her posts but never commented, the silent readers that greatly benefited from her advice and kindness.

How did Annabel's Angels start?

Annabel's Angels originates from a group of people all affected by Cancer. Annabel’s Angels is a Derby based registered charitable trust raising funds to support local cancer patients and their families. This includes:

  1. Fundraising to purchase items to help improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their families living in Derby.

  2. Fundraising to support local cancer self help groups and cancer associated initiatives in Derby.
