Hi I’m Sarah.
I live in Derby with my fabulous husband Dave. I am a proud Mum of 2 great (grown-up) kids - my son Ben doesn’t currently live too far away from home, though my daughter is a bit further away – currently on a ‘big adventure’ spending a year working and travelling around New Zealand.
Over the years I have worked in Management, Training, the voluntary sector and for Adult Social Care at the Council. I am currently the Manager of Shared Lives – which is a fantastic scheme that supports Shared Lives Carers to support people in their own homes – it is a truly person-centred way of supporting people, something that I have a strong belief in and real passion for.
The several years that I was employed in the Voluntary Sector in Derby developed my desire to be able to ‘make a difference’ to people’s lives. It was during this time that mine and Simon’s paths crossed professionally. Over the last few years I have ‘watched’ the development of Annabel’s Angels with admiration. In November 2015, on a very cold and windy day, my son, Ben, and I supported fund raising activity at a Derby County match. Following this I offered my support to Simon and the charity if required in the future. I was therefore delighted that Simon invited me to join the Board in March 2016.
I look forward to using my knowledge and experience in my role as a Trustee to support fundraising activity, organising events, delivering presentations and meeting with organisations, agencies and professionals around the City.
I feel truly honoured to be a part of this fantastic local charity, and seeing the difference that we can make to people’s lives; and look forward to seeing Annabel’s Angels grow still further.
